Mass Accuracy of Fragment Ions brown459  2017-09-07 06:43:39

Hi all-

Is there anyway that I can have a read out on panorama of the transition/fragment ion mass accuracy? Something that could allow us to determine the calibration of both parts of the fusion instrument (i.e. the mass accuracy in the OT and the IT)? This could be similar to a panorama dashboard view showing the mass accuracy of the MS1 data.

Thanks,

CJB

Hi Chris,

I assume you want to see this in a QC folder. As you point out, you can select "Mass Accuracy" as a metric for the QC plots. As it is implemented right now, it will show you the average mass error across all fragment ions of the precursor. If you have precursor ions (M, M+1, M+2) those are included in getting the average. I think we want to separate these by precursor and fragment ions as we do with the "Transition / Precursor Areas" metric. Does that sound like what you would like to see?

Thanks,
Vagisha

Yes. If we could see the mass accuracy split between the precursor ion (M, M+1, M+2) and the mass accuracy of the product ions that would help us a bit. This would allow us to see the mass accuracy of both detectors in the fusion style hybrid instrument to confirm when we should calibrate and which part of the instrument we should calibrate.

Is something like this possible?

Hi Chris,

This is not possible right now. But I will add it to the our issues list so that it is implemented in the next release of Panorama that is expected in November.

Thanks,
